Construction boots are good for the foot, but for the eyes they can make the job even better.
The construction industry is notoriously expensive and there are few opportunities for the average person to earn a living doing something that involves physical work.
Now, a new study by the Oxford Centre for Industrial Design, the Oxford University Graduate School of Business and the British Construction Association has found that construction jobs can make up for some of that.
They report that a construction specialist’s salary can be higher than a construction worker’s salary if they’re given a “constructional skill” qualification.
Construction specialties The study, published in the British Journal of Industrial Relations, found that a specialist in building could earn between £9,000 and £12,000 per year, depending on the specialty and the level of expertise involved.
The study used data from the Construction Employment Survey (CEIS) which is a quarterly survey of construction workers in the UK, which covers occupations such as carpentry, bricklaying, electrical engineering, electricians, electrical engineers, woodworkers and plumbers.
Construction specialists have traditionally been the most popular construction jobs in the country, with nearly 90 per cent of construction jobs being taken by a construction-related specialty, the study found.
The CEIS is conducted annually and is based on an employer’s response to a questionnaire.
The survey asks the question: Do you have a job which requires you to be able to do the job of a construction work person in a certain situation, such as: cleaning or repairing a building site, constructing a road, constructing or installing a wall, or in an industrial setting, as part of a project?
The CEAS asks whether a person is working for the industry and the construction work related specialty, and if so, how much they earn per week.
For example, a construction specialty specialist could be earning between £18,000 to £25,000 if they worked in the construction and demolition industry, while a construction professional could earn £18-25,400 if they were in the general construction industry.
But in terms of the speciality, a speciality specialist’s total salary could be significantly higher than the salary of a general construction worker, the report found.
Construction footwear The study also found that the construction industry had some advantages in terms in terms to the way people get into and out of the construction business.
Construction shoe sales have been on the rise in recent years, with a rise in the number of shoe sales in 2016 compared to 2015, and are up by over 30 per cent year-on-year.
The average annual salary for a construction shoe salesperson is about £14,000, according to the CEIS survey, with more than 10 per cent earning more than £150,000.
However, construction shoes are a low-paid profession, with the average salary for construction shoe worker is around £28,000 a year, the CEAS found.
A construction footwear specialist can earn up to £12-15 per hour.
Construction specialty skills A speciality can help you to gain a better understanding of your industry, build your knowledge, and get the right job experience, said Kate Breen, senior vice president and chief economist at the CEI.
This is because a construction specialization specialist can also be a good role model to other people.
“If someone has a particular skill, and they are looking to work in a particular industry, they can benefit from a person like that who can demonstrate their skills and build skills that will help them get a job in a specific industry,” she said.
For instance, a specialist can help a construction site worker in the area of electrical engineering understand how to apply the correct electrical power lines, Breen said.
“It’s a good thing to have a specialist because you don’t have to work with a lot of people and it’s not a bad thing to learn to do.”
Construction footwear can also improve your job performance, according the study.
The specialties that a person can learn from can help them improve their skills.
For someone with a particular job, it’s a matter of how they approach their job, said Breen.
If they are not able to build a building, they may be able learn how to do a job where they need to be physically strong, and also get in touch with the industry to learn about different materials and methods, she said
